Fat Quarter Shop 2013 Mystery Quilt
I am really wanting to try this mystery quilt - sure would be nice to know what it looked like but then It wouldn't be a mystery. Anway, it says no applique or templates - it will be piecing - the leader is Joanna Figeuroa from Fig Tree Quilts - they have a sign up on Fatquartershop.com it runs from June 2013 - for about 10-12 months.
So anyone else game for this one? You just go their site and register for $4.99 - then the blocks will be sent once a month for $ 11.99 which includes shipping. I have never done anything like this and I am very interested. would love to hear stories if others have participated in the past and how it went.
Thanks,
Otis

i would rather participate in a free mystery quilt party and reduce my hoard of scraps and yardage. $12 per month sounds a little expensive, and $5 registration on top of that? you don't say how many blocks a month you will make, and will it take 10, 11 or 12 months to complete? if you can calculate how much you will spend in all, is it worth it to you? will you have a quilt when you are done, or do you still have to buy backing and batting? figure those in also. do you appreciate the fabric choices? will someone be available to answer your questions and concerns? is there extra fabric available if you make a mistake? know what you will and will not be getting.

Fat Quarter Shop is great when it comes to BOM programs and their mysteries are always nice. It's important to note that this is just for the blocks; the finishing kit is $87.50 plus shipping and the backing is $56.63 plus shipping.
That being said, I never buy the finishing kit or backing because I always want my quilt to be somewhat unique. It is a 12-month program.
Fat Quarter Shop always includes a lot of fabric in each of their BOMs; you don't have to worry about making mistakes and not having enough. I really like the fabrics used in this one so I might take the plunge.

I have belonged to the Connecting Threads Mystery quilt for the last two years. It is wonderful. Instructions are great and sometmes they have a different way of putting the block together that is easier than they way I would have done the block. I don't purchase the finishing kit, I wait until I finish the blocks and then see what looks good with my blocks. I look forward to receiving my block each month.
