Default free software to design Bargello

Just wanted to share this link for designing Bargello quilts. I think it is fun and easy to use. If anyone has a problem just ask, maybe I can help. Enjoy! www.dgp.toronto.edu/~mcoahran/BarelloSketcher/download.html

Downloaded this but can't seem to get it to work. I have Windows 8. I tried installing/uninstalling but can't get it to work. Can't find the Help file. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I am getting ready to start my first Bargello. Can't wait to try this program. I'm not sure how to get my fabrics into the program. Would I take a picture of each fabric separately or just lay them out in a row. Does the program give instructions on how to photograph fabrics?

Sieg: I have windows 8 and had no problem. I just downloaded it and then opened it from the icon on the "start" window. I could not get it to open just from the directory. Marsh: I didn't actually upload any fabrics but I think if you scanned them and then imported them they should work similar to EQ. If the import doesn't work I would just use an approximation of the colors from the color wheel and then set a key to "translate" them. Another possibility is importing fabric samples from the manufacturer.

Marsh: Just realized I didn't fully answer your question. I would definitely scan one at a time. The order you put them into the pallet definitely has on effect on the dominance of the color.

Grammy: If you have conversion software I would try that, but since I am on a PC platform I have no experience. Sorry. I am going to try to upload a picture of a design I made. Still not anything I want to make but kind of interesting. If you come up with something you like be sure and share.
