I bought my 3 pack (black, red, blue) from office max for less that $6. I would like to get the multi color pack so I can have some lighter colors to mark my light fabrics. Office max said the can order them for me, no idea of price, forgot to ask at that time since I was only interested in the 3 pack. Slap self on forehead.

First time hearing about these pens. Are these pens suitable for marking on fabric? How do they erase.?..do they stay on long enough to quilt a design?

What do you use them for? Would they work for marking quilting motifs, or are they mainly for cutting out shapes? Do they have to be erased or will laundering remove the marks?

You erase them with a hot iron. Some say that if you put the fabric in the cold, the marker will return. It does! for whatever reason my frixon pen line disappeared. I put it in the fridge and it came back.

I did a test with mine. I wrote on fabric, let it sit for the night them pressed the fabric in the morning. The markings disappear. I put the fabric in the fridge and the marks came back. I tried all three colors ( red, blue, black). All worked well. I repeated the test, but this time I washed it after heat removing the marks. I then put the fabric back in the fridge, and the markings did NOT return. I am very satisfied with the pens, and I feel confident to use them to do SOME marking for quilting and for my machine embroidery. I say "some", since I only tried it on cotton and poly/cotton blend. I would test on whatever fabrics i use in the future, since I sew with all types of fabrics.
As for marking a quilt, I would always test. The marks would be erased by the heat of an iron, but then you must wash the quilt to finish removing the "magic ink" markings. Funny story from one of our quilting friends who said she did not wash the quilt, but sent it to her friend. The quilt was sent by UPS and the truck was very cold. When her friend opened the box, the markings had reappeared! Sitting in the cold truck was enough to trigger the ink!

i bought the multi pack in a zipper tin off 'ebay' for approx $18.
it's the best buy i've made in a while. i use them all of the time and love them! i use them for marking my fabrics for 'needle turn' projects and can't recommend them enough. you get such a lovely fine mark that makes your applique very accurate.
i wouldn't be without them now!!
bye bye chalk pencils!!!

I always purchase during back to school time....I got a three pack for $1.99 and then there was a rebate form with them, making the three pens $1....I probably never see that again. Watch CVS and Walgreens during back to school. They put these pens on sale 50% off or even less.
