Default Georgia Bonesteel

Many of you newer quilters might not have seen this PBS series called "Lap Quilting With Georgia Bonesteel". I was surprised to have found them on U-tube. Some of her patterns may seem out of date but her fundamentals of quilting are great. Enjoy

Great idea -- Georgia is one of the folks with timeless information about how to do things.

I used to watch her years ago and bought her books and patterns. She had a deal where you bought a set of patterns every month. I still have them

Georgia's PBS shows are what got me started with quilting. I have several of her books. One of her projects is currently a take along hand quilting project.

I made a quilt using her book and patterns, I too was new to quilting.. I knew nothing about bias and straight grain. That quilt was a disaster. But she is one great teacher. I am gonna watch these.

Thank you so much for posting this. Georgia Bonesteel was my idol back in the 70's when I used to watch her on PBS but was too poor to buy the material and begin quilting. Now that I'm IN my 70's I can buy the material but find myself poor again because of it :-)

I watched her but, I no longer hand quilt. I only make quilts that can be cut with rotary cutter. Many years ago when I started all pieces were cut with scissors. No way would I do that again.

Georgia Bonesteel was one of the first quilters I saw on PBS that helped me get hooked on quilting. I bought her pattern and template sets every month and wound up with 2 binders of her patterns and templates called Spinning Spools. My daughter picked out the pattern for the one and only full size quilt that I ever quilted, she still has it and I think she plans on giving it to our only grand daughter some day, as she won't be having children. I'll have to look for her on You Tube, thanks for the heads up. She had a show on PBS a few years ago, but haven't heard much about her lately. She really had a wealth of information on quilting, by hand and by machine.
