Wondering if this is even possible, to stripe a nine-patch block. If it is, is there a pattern I can use, once I get my machine fixed?

Do you mean, strip piece, sure you can do that, that is the easy way. Just sew 3 strips together, press, cut in pieces the same width as your strips and sew together again to form 9patches

Thanks NativeTexan, for the site referral. My DIL was looking for one and I'll send it to her. She's just beginning quilting.

I developed a technique for making a 9 patch from strips. I call it the Disappearing 4Patch. I usually start out with 6" strips. The diagram is fairly clear, if you have any questions, PM me. Also includes a different Disappearing 9patch.

The D9Patch is your finished block. Make however many you want and piece them together for your quilt. Ditto for the D4Patch. You can add sashing and cornerstones if you like.
