The owners are the problem according to the store managers I have talked to. They want the max profits at the expense of the needs of the store. Some Handcock Fabric stores are wonderful to be in, some are like junky thrift stores. I quit going to the one near me as fabric was piled on tables five and six bolts deep. I don't go to a store to do lifting exercises.

I can see why Our store here in SPFD MO can have five or six people waiting to check out and that many waiting for fabric to be cut. Only one person working. I waiting 25 min just to pay for thread I finally laid it on counter and left. Went to JA

We have two near me, (well maybe 20 miles). Just called them. Redlands will be staying open for the time being, they have been saved for now. Upland is closing; biz as usual until Wednesday, then the liquidators will take over.

Wow! I hadn't heard about this, but sure hope the one in Overland Park KS doesn't close--I find that Hobby Lobby doesn't have much of an extensive collection, and JoAnne's drives me crazy! Takes forever to get anything cut! The Hancock's moved out of a larger, but poorly maintained building but they had lots of selection. They are now in a much smaller (about 1/2 the size) but nicer building, but it's just stacked high with bolts of fleece and hard to manuver in and they also need about 2 more workers--too much wait to get stuff cut or pay. But still hate to see them having struggles and feel so sorry for the workers.

They closed all of ours several years back and was gone for a long while then opened with new stores in new areas about five years back. The one I use is smaller but carrier a great quilting line and fashion fabrics. They carry a full line of home decor. fabrics and about anything I need. It is a neat well cared for store and I sure hope they don't close it. It is about half way between Walmart and Hobby Lobby for me so I can hit all three when I an fabric shopping.
