I noticed the quilt, too, when I first saw the story. The quilts do mean something to these men and women. A Marine in my son's company who was severely injured in an attack that killed two of their fellow Marines in Iraq in 2003 has the QOV that was covering him when he was taken off the plane back in the US hanging on the wall in his living room to this day.
I am proud to say, the members of my quilt guild made the quilt. Every quilter, in every guild, involved in this program deserves a thank you from our country for their dedication to this wonderful program. And, a special thanks to all our military for their service.

every time I see this I cry. We should bring all of these kids home where they belong. I did notice the quilt that he had on him.

The quilt guild I belong to makes "Quilts of Valor" quilts. I know they are appreciated by all the people who are given them and the people who make them feel great reward in knowing they made someone something special.
I make "Quilts of Valor" too. My DH saw that picture and asked if it was one of mine.
I noticed the quilt also!! Our guild here in maryland just had a quilts for valor sew in, I am always glad to help out and do what we can for those who serve...they give so much for us...

I saw the salute and immediately saw that he'd already rec'd his Quilt of Valor! Made me smile and tear up at the same time!!
This is a very emotional article. God Bless all of our soldiers & especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. May God bless their families with peace & pride knowing that their child has protected us from "the bullies" that reside in this world.
