How to fix color bleeding on quilts
Fellow blogger Vicki Welsh on her blog Field Trips in Fiber has done the work of creating a tutorial showing you how to get those bleeds out, and what causes a lot of problems. She used a color catcher but it didn't work. Check out her blog post and download her how-to document so you will have this info when you need it -

Thanks for this information. I have a quilt that the red fabric bled onto the white and I am going to try this tonight. I was just at Costco today and was given a free little bottle of dawn dish soap which is one of the products that Vicki suggests.

boy thank you for this great article. Just working on a quilt and smartly realized I did not prewash about 1/4 of the reds I used.. boy would that be a mistake since there is a whole lot of white in there. Going to dawn presoak it and pray. Lots of prayers!

I have some fabric purchased yesterday, couldn't pass up for the price. Going to toss into the washer with Dawn on hot water and see how that works. Just one 2 yd piece but has dark camo green color. Will put into medium load with a light test piece and check results. Thanks for sharing site.

Thanks for sharing this. My mom washed the quilt she made for me and the red ran onto the focal fabric; she was devastated. I've been trying to figure out how to fix the quilt, so I'm going to try this. Hopefully it will at least fade out some of the red. :-)
