Welcome to the Quilting Board!

interesting reading. written in 2001 and I wonder what more he has to say now. I have the book and very much want to make this quilt, myth or truth, I probably will.
Eleanor Burns also has a book on underground railroad quilt. I have made that because I like the way it looks and like sampler quilts but told the person I made it for of the myth.
It's amazing how little people actually know about it. I used to work with a girl who insisted the underground "railroad" ran underneath her house. Really!?!
Blessed are the quilters, for they are the piecemakers.
Thanks for posting this. Interesting and informative reading.....
Old news....I too read the book when it was " hot" and had some trepidation about its authenticity....even attended a presentation featuring the author.......again I had doubts about some of her statements......unfortunately we will really never know the absolute truth....just thank heaven we had the determination to cease it. Sadly it is still in existence in parts of the world now as it has been since man has walked the earth........
Thanks for posting. (UGRRQuilts)
this is subsidzed by the government? another waste of our tax money. myth or actual fact, there is nothing to approve or disprove the underground railroad. I do however believe there were people who were willing to help another person avoid abuse.

More information, for your decision whether to "take it or leave it". There is a paragraph about quilts about midway.
