Just ran across this, and am going to grab some scraps and try.

I usually use post- its becasue the stickiness helps to keep a straight line.

Great idea. For the short stitches corner to corner I don't draw a line anyway. I just eyeball the line and sew, which works so far for me. For the larger blocks at that angle I will try this new method.
