Default New to me technique

I'm sure it's not new, but to me it was... 3dudesquilting.com site, clicked on tutorials, equilateral triangles- a you tube tute using triangles on a roll(equilateral)... I've used their hsts in various sizes, liked the results, but this was an interesting tute. Has anyone done this pattern this way.....a new way for an old pattern....

I took a class for this. There is a 60 degree ruler we used. The ruler, paper, and pattern was sold in class. The rows went together perfectly.
