Default New thread from Superior

superiorthreads.com/shop/category/thread/?brand=MicroQuilter&_ke=cXVpbHRlckBjZWJyaWRnZS5uZX Q%3D

I ordered a few spools to try. I've noticed a lot of thread brands are marketing 80wt and 100 wt thread now. I read in a quilt article somewhere that the process to make thin thread strong is now possible.

I saw that yesterday and was very interested. Please let us know what you used it for and how you find it.

Thanks for posting... I also just saw a short YouTube video about the new Schmetz Chrome needle series. They will only be available at LQS and sewing machine dealers.

I just looked up the Schmetz Chrome needles. Here's the info from the Schmetz website:

  • Chrome resists heat.
  • Chrome resists wear. That little needle takes a beating stitch by stitch and it gets hot.
  • Chrome will stay cool longer with less stitch distortion.
  • Chrome aids the thread to pass through the needle eye with less friction and less heat build-up.
  • Chrome also allows the needle to pass through the fabric with less resistance.

Feature: Chrome plated. Slightly rounded point.
Fabric Use: Numerous — wovens and knits. A great general purpose needle.

While the first part sounds good, I'm not so sure about the rounded point and "great general purpose needle"

They are Floriani Chrome Needles made by Schmetz. You can order them online.
