Thanks so much - love the Sochi patchwork.

Kaffe Fasset or bright batiks - I think either would work.

We always watch as much Olympic stuff as we can, but this year it is enhanced by those wonderful designs everywhere. For all the talk about Russia's difficulty getting the venues ready, their buildings are beautiful. Who can complain about a place plastered with quilt designs everywhere! And several countries are using quiltish designs in their gear. I got a kick out of the US snowboarders with their patchwork jackets. So country USA! But it's clearly a worldwide phenomenon now, so it can only help expand worldwide interest in quilting.

Here is the dish souvenir dish towel brought to me by a Russian guest who came for Thanksgiving. It was my introduction to the designs that now we are seeing all over Olympic coverage.

The Olympic print uses all different prints....so I'm thinking batiks, 30's, Kaffe, anything else I can find in my stash, all together. The trick seems to be a very tight color palette. Or perhaps overdyeing when I finish....

When I click on that, just a pic of 4 diamond shapes sewn together comes up...is that what I am supposed to see?
I am tempted o
To order the diamond die for my GO and do it!

I posted this from Pinterest. The person who posted it originally called it Arkansas Traveler. I think any diamond design pattern would work. I can't believe it took me over a week to figure out that the Sochi design could be simulated by home quilters.

Your die would probably work. It's worth a shot.

The link is just four diamonds sewn together. As you can see from the dishtowel photo (thanks for posting!), the Sochi pattern is much more complex. That's what makes it so intriguing.
