Do you ever wonder if and when the fabric makers/designers will realize that we're using these and put more writing or tiny designs on them?

zennia 12-28-2010 10:09 AM

I love it.

Casperscott 12-28-2010 10:14 AM

That is a great idea. I wish I had more patterns.

I'd even settle for less white space between dots of color!

Talk abt frugal, use all, Awesome, who would have ever thought to save their salvages?

jojosnana 12-29-2010 05:42 PM

I never would have thought of this one. Wow selvage edges, so cute. I might have to try it.

Hi! I bought some unfinished ones from a discount school supply store (they no longer stock them) and made the set you see for a pincushion swap on this board. It is pretty easy to make your own (this tutorial is about making the pincushions more than painting, but it gives the general idea http://callmekelly.blogspot.com/2010...-tutorial.html ) Try googling for blank dolls if you want to make your own or just try local gift shops.

I don't know who started it but I've seen selvage umbrella's, skirt's, cushions etc. on the web. Chele collects them and make marvelous things out of them, as well as quite a few other board members. If you start saving yours I'm sure someone around here would be happy to take them off your hands or help you figure out a project!

Clever use of selvages. Gives me an idea for the ones I have been saving.

Wow! That's really cute! What a fun project she did.

I believe the babuschka nesting dolls come from Russia. I have several sizes and colors of them... just love them.
