I would have never thought of doing it this way....only thing I would want different is batting in the middle. Not sure how tough that would be to turn.

I'm pretty sure turning all of those with our without batting would drive me bonkers. I never get corners to turn as sharply as I'd like. If you could do it, it would make an incredible quilt.

I did a placemat out of yo yos and that was a bit much. Not ready to tackle hexies. Cute though.

I wouldn't tackle such small hexies, but bigger ones would be for me. Isn't this easier than using paper/wax paper, etc. then having to baste and remove paper?
I've never made them, just read about the process.

I dont think i like this method. Her finished item looked a little...messy? I love the precision of the EPP GFG. And, I'm not sure I see a huge time savings. Basting would take less time than the machine sewing and turning, and you are still hand sewing the hexies together. The time savings i guess would come from it not requiring quilting.

I tried this yesterday. Turning the quilt was not hard and looked good but putting the hexies together was a nightmare...I did 4 and threw it out...bummed...thought it would be easy.

Thanks for sharing Carol....I'd like to give this a try. They look like oyster crackers, don't they? Wow that Go Baby sure seems like it would save a lot of work.

I don't have a cutter but still cut doubles. I take a strips material,draw all my pattern across then pin to another strip right sides together and sew. Just make sure to leave an opening. I leave all my openings on the bottom then cut all and turn. Sure it takes a little longer but then I didn't have the cost of the Go Baby and could buy more material. I love the hexie design but it's not a pattern I make all the time.

Interesting idea. But what the batting?
