Is anyone else doing the Modern Mystery Quilt?

The Modern Mystery Quilt starts tomorrow! Is anyone else doing it?

So far all I know is that it takes 3 yards of a background fabric - which I've already picked out a few possibilities. I guess I'll decide which one I'm going to use after the rest of the fabric requirements are given out....

shan70 09-12-2012 04:36 AM

I'm going to try it!

BellaBoo 09-12-2012 05:16 AM

I downloaded part one. The designers of the mystery always create nice quilt patterns. I want to make it but I have too many quilt projects to finish right now. I'll probably see the mystery before I make it.

I just saw it this morning - I would love to try it - I don't know if I will start now - I have too many projects going right now - but I do want to see how it turns out - I like those particular designers that are hosting the project.

Nope, I just can't do a quilt without seeing the end result first. The last mystery we had at my guild, some worked well and others not. The colours and placement of the values made all the difference. I think it would be easier in this modern quilt and well worth the time if you wanted to try a modern quilt.

Thanks for this. it is just what I needed.

quiltstringz 09-12-2012 06:36 AM

Thanks for sharing - I will go check it out. Have a lot on my plate but have really started liking a lot of the new Modern quilts

MamaHen 09-12-2012 06:49 AM

I also downloaded it, i'll wait till the end to decide if I want to make it.

roserips 09-12-2012 08:20 AM

I have downloaded the first step and thought I would try and get it started sounds interesting and I love a good Mystery!

caspharm 09-12-2012 01:24 PM

I just printed off the first step as well. It looks fun.

Drue 09-12-2012 03:43 PM

I dled the first edition...guess I'll see how it goes! Hopefully it's a fun and attractive quilt...I'm not into scrappy.

Me, too. I am way behind, but I am saving the steps and hoping to get to it eventually.

I'm downloading for later. I need the mystery unveiled before starting on it. Too many quilts in progress at the moment and the thought of starting another one is a bit overwhelming even if it is extremely tempting.

I went to look and it intrigued me! Then when I went to bed I pondered it . . . . all night! So I got up early and made the first step! When I first saw the modern quilts I wasn't sure I was drawn to them. Then, the more I saw the more I liked. But, you would laugh if you saw my choice of fabrics! The fabrics are a mix of batiks and others with a very traditional background fabric. But, then, my house is decorated?!? in the eclectic style.

TacoMama 09-13-2012 06:07 AM

Thanks for the site. I'll look into it. :)

gitlisgal 09-13-2012 07:20 AM

I think that I will try this mystery using multi-colors such as scraps. It might be a good way to clear out some of my smaller stash. Using a white or ecru background ought to make the prints, etc. pop! Anyway, it I don't care for the outcome, the quilt can be donated to our community quilt project in our guild, or you could donate it to a local
nursing home, or a Habitat for Humanity housing project in your area.

I started it and this is what my first step looks like

Yarn or Fabric 09-14-2012 03:00 AM

I have to do mine this weekend. I am not sure what fabrics I want to use. I'm thinking Christmas material since I have a lot of that :) I'll work on it this weekend. I have a quilt day with my guild tomorrow. I know one other is working on it tomorrow so I will too. :)

Same here. I do plan to do the 1-Day Mystery next Sunday, tho.

One day mystery? Do tell! The last one I made I enjoyed. I'm not going to keep it. It will be a donation quilt when I finally get it quilted... but I did enjoy making it :)
I didn't get to make my step one yesterday as I hoped I would. I brought fabrics - a coordinated set of fat quarters - but then decided that I didn't like my colors after all. I also decided that I just don't like using Xmas fabric. I'm going to sell it all. I have literally 3 xerox boxes of it and I never ever use it so it's time it finds a new home.

dgeskine 09-16-2012 04:24 AM

I am new to the quilt community, but I think I would like to give this a try.

Here's the link to it. I think it sounds neat -- only 2 yards of fabric! Mt MD just had a baby so I'm going to make a baby quilt & kill 2 birds with one stone!
