carolaug 05-15-2011 01:55 AM

I'm with you on that one! Too many bins. I have never seen her yardage stash has anyone? It's always the bins and small pieces.

mcdaniel023 05-15-2011 03:41 AM

Wow, we could all shop there. I thought I had a lot!

sueisallaboutquilts 05-15-2011 04:03 AM

Waaay too much fabric for me. I wouldn't be able to enjoy it!
I'm in the middle of organizing my sewing room and have too much and it's nothing like hers!! For me it's just too overwhelming and makes me unproductive! :(

cjomomma 05-15-2011 05:09 AM

Now I'm feeling really good about my little stash. I do believe there is such a thing as being too organized.

carolaug 05-15-2011 05:37 AM

I totally agree. I would be so overwhelmed...it would discourage me from quilting. I have all my fabric in a walk in closet. I talk it out to organize it...just looking at it all reminds me not to buy another complete project until I use up some of what I have. I just showed my husband and he thinks its awesome and that I should do that...LOL

Ditto I agree.... That’s not a stash ......that’s hording…… Use it or lose it. Looks like all her time is in the organizing…. Where was the sewing machine or machines?????????????? Maybe she should call this her collection and not her stash   :?
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh I bet she has her machines in bins too :D :D

Enchanted Quilter 05-15-2011 06:22 AM

That would scare me to death to be that organized . I enjoy a my chaos.

feffertim 05-15-2011 07:51 AM

OMG

agdetrick 05-15-2011 07:53 AM

I personally like chaos lots!!! But I would like to be organized, and that is too hard for me...chaos wins for me...LOLS! It is beautiful organized room overall.

Joan 05-15-2011 07:56 AM

That is hard to believe----I think she likes organizing more than quilting

jeaninmaine 05-15-2011 08:17 AM

What a stash! And it's all in it's proper place. That's scary. When does she have time to quilt, it'd take my lifetime just to stay that organized.

bjeriann 05-15-2011 08:35 AM

That poor girl needs a life. I would be afraid to mess anything up. How can you enjoy what you have if your scared to touch it.

Yes, I think that is the key.... wouln't it be fun to have a little of that. lol.... I do like her way of placing into bins. I use plastic totes and really to big. Difficult to dig into. I keep everything in there, batting and so forth so is all mixed up YIKES this little lady would have a spaz atack looking at mind. :) :)

actually it is so organized, would be easy to get into, but to rememeber where it goes aftr. YIKES. maybe she has a cutting table she scoots around to help herself to material or just a GREAT memory. :)

GrandmaLola 05-16-2011 05:48 AM

How does she find time to quilt? I think being organized can be counter productive!

Nolee 05-16-2011 06:43 AM

Now, THAT is a sickness!!!!

Well, after looking at her blog (Fabric Therapy) I'd say she's a very prolific quilter! She's done beautiful work. Although this stash is much, much larger than mine, I say if it works for her, and makes her happy, more power to her!

mzsooz 05-16-2011 06:56 AM

Amazing! Personally I really don't want much of a stash. One of the most fun parts of making a quilt is the trip to the fabric store with my pattern to pick out the fabrics for it. And the investment!! Phew....

LindaaJR 05-16-2011 07:11 AM

This person never, ever has to go to the store again for fabric. I used to have my attic set up very simular with craft supplies. I went to craft camp every summer and I told one of the ohter campers that I was able to shop in my attic for the supplies I needed one year for the 4 classes I was taking that year. That is when I realized I had way toomuch craft supplies on hand. LOL. When I sold the house last year, I had a yard sale and what did nto sell I gave on Freecycle. This summer i am having a book sale to downsize my "library" which is in every room of my house.
Take care.
Linda

Becka 05-16-2011 08:04 AM

Impressive. A little over the top for my personal taste, but if that's what blows her whistle, toot away. I get kind of sad when my fabrics sit around too long, scraps or otherwise. Like their purpose isn't being fulfilled, and they aren't being properly enjoyed. Weird, I know, but I've never claimed to be otherwise. ::grins::

Quilterfay 05-16-2011 08:46 AM

What a stash. Mine is very very tiny compared to that. You must have as much invested in plastic as you have in fabric. I too sew in the basement. I don't mind it as I have the large screen tv down there.

I have plastic that I put other fabric in. I have been trying to keep my projects each in a tub so I keep it all together.

I do keep all my colors together on a shelf. I am running out of room for my stuff. My have to take over more of the rumpus room.

Happy Quilting

First thing I thought of was, if something happened to her , how is her husband going to get rid of all that? (probably because my MIL just passed and we're cleaning out here stuff)

patski 05-16-2011 09:00 AM

should we say hoarding and OCD?? Its' a lot but will she use it?? Will it just break down over the next 100 years? She sure can't use it all
