If my math is correct you would need 72 ten inch blocks for the stars and 12 more to snow ball them, you would also need extra fabric for the sashing and the borders. It will be one huge quilt.I think I am going to try a test block and make my blocks only 6 inches since I want to use fat quarters hopefully there will be less waste this way. I will let you know how it all works out.

Her method does leave the edges on the bias, but spray starching before cutting solves that problem...you should not have any stretching, I've done several quilts this way and have not had problems

I have the Missouri Star ap on my Ipad so they update it for me. I watched the Stars and I love how she snowballed the blocks and added the little square in the sashing for a secondary pattern.

Wondered what I would use some to those charm packs for. And now have a 'reason' to buy that Layer Cake I have been eyeballing. LOL

I saw it too and decided that will be a quick xmas gift this year...secret santa...have alot of fat quarters I want to use up and this might fit the bill....

Thanks Valerie, I love those big stars, but I'm so glad she showed the quilt she made with the charm squares too. I made a pinwheel quilt last year using this method for half square triangles. I didn't think I would like the method because of the bias edges, but it wasn't a problem, and it sure is quick!

We finally have the yardage available that Jenny used in the "Big Star" tutorial. It's called "Orchard House" by Windham fabrics...it's beautiful!!
