The "Mr. Clean Magic Eraser" works great for cleaning your iron.

This truly works and takes almost no time. Take a fabric softener sheet and rub all the residue off. It works extremely well and is fast. Be careful as the iron needs to be on.

thanks, the steam works OK on my iron but the spray does not. I will try the vinegar. Hope it works.

i recently tried the new scotch brand cleaning pads designed for ceremic flat-surfaced cooktops. on a whim, i tried it on my iron's (not teflon) soleplate, too. it works like a charm.

since the pads are a bit on the pricey side, i'm happy to have discovered at least one more way to use them. :-)
