Clothes made out of Quilts?

Some of the first introductions I had to quilting were via http://www.sewsweetness.com/ & her amazing dresses. If you've never seen her work, these are some of my favorites:

Check out her blog for more goodness, she's so inventive with her patterns. I'm looking forward to when I can incorporate quilting into my regular seamstress work, and make some really unique outfits.

Has anyone else done anything similar? I want to see all the pictures!

Thanks!

I love the Dresden plate. I can't believe she actually cut up a finished quilt for the first dress!

They are all so very pretty, but I really love the Dresden plates ones. Wow!

That's what I thought too! But it was such a pretty quilt, it made such a pretty dress. I bet way more people will get a chance to see and admire it in dress form.

Life around here is beginning to calm down after a year and a half. So -- I am planning to use some Folkwear patterns (I am only a satisfied customer of long standing.) to make a long jacket, a kimono, and whatever other trouble I can get into. I am most likely to quilt some. If sewing with pieced fabric and/or quilted fabric sounds good to you, check their website and don't miss the gallery of garments other sewers have made.

Thanks for reminding me about my plans. It has been an interesting 18 months. Now for fun!

We hippies wore dresses and skirts like this in the 60's. What is old is always new again somewhere~
I don't remember any of ours beginning new though. Usually something old we added to and layered over, often beginning as something denim.
