There is a good tutorial at this site on how to make your own color or dye catchers. There are photos of her success in using them as well as how to make them.

Washing soda is located in the laundry products aisle in your grocery store.

I tried this back some time ago and, for whatever reason, I didn't have success with it. I think I'll just be on the safe side and use the Color Catchers.

Thank you so much for posting this. The dye catchers can get expensive and this will be an inexpensive supply for little money. Can't wait to go to the store and buy the soda.
