Color Catchers - make your own

There is a good tutorial at this site on how to make your own color or dye catchers. There are photos of her success in using them as well as how to make them.

That is very neat, thank you. I am going to give them a try too as soon as I find washing soda.

Washing soda is located in the laundry products aisle in your grocery store.

I tried this back some time ago and, for whatever reason, I didn't have success with it. I think I'll just be on the safe side and use the Color Catchers.

Thank you so much for posting this. The dye catchers can get expensive and this will be an inexpensive supply for little money. Can't wait to go to the store and buy the soda.

Think I will try it and hopes it works.

Don't understand how it worked for her because what you want to use is Soda Ash (same thing that people used for hand dyeing) not Washing Soda or Baking Soda. They are NOT the samethings!
Have not made some because still have come Color Catchers, but plan to because I have a 50 pound bag of Soda Ash for my hand dyeing needs.

Since I have a tub of Soda Ash, bought last winter when I started hand dyeing, I can make these very easily. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the great link!!

Okay are we using SODA ASH and not BAKING SODA? Am I getting this right? Because in Canada many of these colours catchers are not available.

Would like to hear from people who have made these and used them. Did they really work?
