FMQ Aid

I have recently started using free motion quilting to do my quilts and I love it. I'm still not very good at it, but it is getting easier. One thing I noticed is that I tend to tense up and that makes it harder, so try and relax your arms and hands when you are FMQ. A super aid are the products from Quilting Made Easy. They have patterns all printed out with adhesive on the edges to anchor it to your block. Then all you do is follow the lines with your stitching, tear away the paper and you have a gorgeous pattern. You can see their products at www.quiltingmadeeasy.com. Good prices and super service.

are there bits of pattern stuck in the stitches when you try to remove it?

Try drawing them yourself!
Any stationary store sell rolls or paper. You can sew thru all of them. I Have fun.

I may just have to try this product. I want to start quilting my own on my own machine. Thanks for the link.

I love using those paper quilting patterns, so easy to follow along and the paper usually comes right off.

Relaxing is very important, as are Quilting gloves or gardening gloves with rubber nubs. I just do a large stipple or a meander. I'm not wanting to make a particular design.

I agree that relaxing helps. Every so often I realize my shoulders are stuck to my ears and try to make myself relax.

These papers do look helpful.

Yes, but with tweezers or just your finger nail it comes right off. It shouldn't deter you from trying the product.
