Found a great way (CHEAP) to store bobbins with the spool

I'm off to re-arrange my bobbins. :)

Thanks for the link. I'm off to get some rubber bands. I had to laugh when I read the paragraph about the bobbins falling on the floor every time she opened up the little plastic tray. I have a kitten that comes running when he hears my bobbin box open. He knows at least one will hit the floor and off he goes with it. Such a fast little kitty!

I have some extra long pipe cleaners. I place the bobbin atop the spool, run the pipe cleaner down through the center of both, and twist to the side. Great tip I got from watching Fons and Porter.

I went to the Minneapolis Modern Quilt site and looked at all the ideas. They are great!

Thank you for sharing!

I think I like that idea even better than the rubber bands.

Great idea and you can still put them on the spool rack.

I used the tip of using golf tees. I hot glued them to the bottom of a drawer then slid the spool on with the bobbin on top. Works great BUT most of the glue wouldn't hold. They have fallen over. Perhaps super glue?

I use a Qtip in the top of the spool and put the bobbin on top of the spool. Works great in the drawer I use to store my thread.

That's what you call a "why didn't I think of that" idea! Very simple solution. :)

Great tips -- I have some very small plastic zip bags (I think they are for embroidery floss) and I can put the smaller spool and bobbin in. For the larger spools, I use bags that are a bit larger (from Michaels I think). I use plastic boxes for the thread since I ran out of drawer space a long time ago.

Interesting idea. I have pipe cleaners (suggested for cleaning sewing machines), so I might try that.

I have plastic storage, got several from connecting thread and others at Wal Mart a long time ago, everything gets dusty here with the dogs, and I can put bobbin on top of spool in case. Rubber band idea is great but here in FL they would not last too long, heat seems to get them.

Click here: Steel Scraps: Gizmo To Keep The Matching Bobbin with the Spool

I use this tute and make my own. Works great!!

I have used rubber bands on thread, but will not do it again as it breaks down the thread. So think twice before you do it.

The rubber band is a fun idea. It would be too time consuming for me though. I like the round Bobbin Saver. I have about a dozen of them.

Is it the rubber that breaks down the thread? I don't think the bands are made from rubber anymore. The large thin elastic bands for hair would work and last forever.

I slipped some large straws over the pegs and cut them to length.

Love the rubber band idea, I too hate all those loose threads, it drives me nuts
