I saw these at a quilt show last year and thought "I can make that without buying her pattern!" I never thought to look for a free tutotorial on line ... I ended up sending her $14 for a kit. I have made two of them so far - I use one of them for my little hand-work project supplies - will definitely make more - I got very lucky at a rummage sale last summer and purchased a "replacement" tape for 25 cents - my kind of price - old, and sturdy too!

I am sooo going to try this pattern. Looks way easier than putting in zippers. I can make lots of make up bags.
Thanks so much!!!!! It is great to share!! |
When I find a good tutorial, I just print it out & put in in my "projects" file - - one day!!! You know one day is not a day of the week, right?

I have made many of these bags - so quick & easy. I used "Dick & Jane" panels for a group of 8 old-time friends (we gather at a place on Coeur d'Alene River each August - float the river, rubber duck races, hike, etc), We call it our Kindergarten class reunion - been friends since we were 5 - & we're 65 now. The Dick & Jane fabric panels seemed so right for this group - we learned to read with Dick & Jane.
I'm doing a tutorial for another group I quilt with (mostly for charity) in a couple weeks & several non-members who saw the bags want to join us for snap-bag-day. |
I saw these bags for the first time at a quilt show in Georgetown, CA. Love them and want to make as a Nook pouch for my husband. I went on line to learn more and thought to myself, I am going to have to order the pattern, then I read a comment about what a great tutorial site we have on the quilting board. I thought, you are right, I think I will review some of the posts and what popped up were two on how to make these snap bags. I have read and copied everything I need to know, Now I just need to get the tape and get started. I love this board and appreciate all the fabulous quilters that share what they know. Thank you, thank you.

Thanks for the link.

I know I am overthinking this but I need some help. On the tutorial they show the material with the strips on the diagonal. How do I cut the material if I have sewn the strips together in a row? Hope I am making myself clear.
