Great Christmas gift idea- quick too

I just watched the new tutorial from the Missouri Star Quilt Company, Jenny made a scarf from 13" of Minkee fabric. Oh my goodness, it looks terrific and easy and fast too. For those of us who are anticipating a cold winter, this looks like a good gift idea. Off I go for some Minkee today. Check out the link below for the tutorial.

Thank you, that is just too cute

Minkee would work so well. I tried batik the other night and it is just not soft and pliable enough. They say rayon batiks work great, too. Lots of links for this scarf under the name of infinity scarf. They do the last step quite a bit different. Thanks for sharing!

Jenny's scarf is the easiest method I've seen for the infinity scarf! Love it. : )

Thank you! I can do that!

I seen it this morning right before I left for work! So I tried its out and within 5 minutes I had a beautiful minky scarf made to wear to work! I am now anxious to make some more, yes super easy tutorial!

Great idea! Those would be great to make to keep on hand for those unexpected gifts that you inevitably need to give.

That is so neat. I can make this as Christmas gifts for my family back at home in Chicago. Thanks for sharing

how odd...just went to a quilt shop in Princeton Il yesterday and they had these precut and ready to sew and they were on sale for 5.99, so we (friends & I) bought a few each...great stocking stuffers!!!!!!!!!

Cute idea, I think I would finish the edges better...

Great idea. I would finish the edges a bit differently, as I tend to be a perfectionist.

Thanks for the tute!

gramacheri 11-17-2012 08:05 AM

Simple enough for even basic sewers to try.

Saw your post, and had to say I love that Princeton, IL shop. I moved from Shannon, Il to SC in 2000, so haven't been there since, and have been wondering if it is still in business. Are they still as big as they were with all 3 rooms of fabric? I loved it. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for the gift idea. Love it.

I saw the tutuorial this morning and made one tonight. I'm slow at everything, but this did go together really fast. I had some material called "Poodle cloth" that I had bought years ago on sale thinking it would make a good backing for a baby quilt and never used it. It's kind of curly and so soft. It worked perfectly and you can't see the stitches for all the curly stuff. But what a mess when you cut it! These will make really nice gifts.

they are so cuddly, my neighbor made me one last Christmas.

I love this idea, i wonder if fleece would work??? Fleece has a lot of prints

Thanks! I have 4 NYC friends that need simple gifts. These will be great. Getting my minkee on Friday!

I saw her tute in one of her emails I rec.'d. Now I have a question, about the fabric. I live 85 miles from the nearest place to purchase fabric, so needless to say I don't get to go every few days to check out fabric, my question is: Is minky and minkee the same fabric and is this fabric a form of fleece? I searched the net for minkee and came up with minky and it mentioned that it was fleece. Is it the same or two different fabs.?

ItsJustMe 11-18-2012 02:09 PM

What a really cute idea! Very simple! Even I can do that, and it would make a great gift! Thanks for sharing!
