I'm new to paper piecing and found a great video that might help others like me that are just learning this method. I always appreciate when people share something with me that makes my life easier. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uaW26igygE

Kim, that's so nice of you to share. This is the very thing that makes this board so wonderful, among other things!
PP can be very confusing and that's a great tute. Hugs, Sue |
Thank you for sharing with us :D:D:D

thanks@!

Have bookmarked it. Thank you you for posting the site. When I've tried paper piecing it seems backward to what I want to do and this is a good tute.
|
Thanks for sharing this demo came just at the right time
|
That is a great video - thanks

Thank you for sharing, that is a great tutorial for paper piecing!!

Thanks for sharing. I always screw up when I'm paper piecing.
|
Kim,
Thanks for the tute. I'm just starting a paper pieced quilt and have yet to decide the patterning. Still working on prototypes. I'm also new to quilting. This was a great big help. June |
thanks for sharing, the best tutorial!!!!
|
Everyone is quite welcome. :-)
|
I was paper piecing yesterday. Forgot how time consuming it can be.
|
Thanks for sharing the video. I'm sewing a lap throw with many pieced blocks, and my most frequent mistake is not using enough fabric. It looks fine -- until I turn it and realize it's angled the other way!
|
That's an excellent one, but I found one on this site (somewhere) that I like better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv2gK...eature=related
The reason I like the second one better is because when you're doing seams that have a great angle to them, it easier for me to have trimmed the seam first. Then it seems easier to position the new fabric and have it cover and it seems easier for me to see what's going on. |
Thanks Kim, This is a very helpful tute.

After re-doing a "great angle" several times to see the way I measured it was inaccurate, not realizing it would be angled the other way, I just used a large piece of material and sewed about in the middle. I figured that way there would have to be enough! It sure wastes a lot of material though.
My avatar is a mariner's compass I pieced. The material for each section were cut out ahead of time and I wasted so much material I could probably make another quilt! I did make one crazy quilt pillow out of some of the fabric and will probably make a bolster pillow out of some more. |
Thank you for sharing this youtube tutorial on paper piecing. I have not tried paper piecing yet. This makes me think that maybe I will. Thanks again.
|
Thanks for sharing that. I just love paper piecing but alway looking for new tips
|
This is the best tute that I've seen for paper piecing. It's always been a bit confusing to me. Thanks!
|
That's a great video. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, thank you for the tutorial. I can see now that I should have been more consistent in keeping my edges cut to the 1/4 inch after each sewing, I left some of the tails to cut later and found I had a weighted mess to wade through - and in turn I think it threw the pattern off (my first attempt). Thank you, this was very helpful. I definitely will dive back into it again. :-)

I learned so much from this video and think I could actually sew a paper pieced block. I've tried before, wasn't sucessful and was so frustrated that I thought I never wanted to try the technique again.
I've taught myself quilting with the help of quilting shows and videos like this one. I encourage anyone who is thinking about teaching a technique through a video like this, do it! You never know how many people you will be helping. Chris |
I agree with SewEasy - classes for me are so far away that I rely on the computer for tutorials and instruction videos like these. I have learned so much - and - you can go back and review any time you need a refresher. Plus, if you have like a laptop in your sewing room, you can just pull it right over to the machine or cutting board and just follow along. Thank you to all of you who take the time to construct these. :-)

Wow, that helped take away my fear of PP. THANKS!!!
|
From a class that included stack and whack I understood this:
You pile your different color pieces on top of each other. You cut them according to your pattern. When you unstack them you have the same shapes in diff colors, so then you just piece them together. |
Thank you for sharing. Great tutorial
|
That was a really easy to understand tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
|
So glad you found that tute and shared it.
