This is very interesting. It would encourage children . They could color (desigh)& then learn how to sew it togather. To start they could make a pillow.I have grandchildren that would love to get involved in this process. I am excited. Nancy

I have one my sister made me that has Bluebonnets (Texas' state flower) in it. She sewed but was disabled and could sit in her chair and color--she loved it! And I love it, too!

I am glad I could be of help to all those wanting to make a crayon quilt. I am making an umbrella quilt for one my granddaughters. I tried the muslin fabric as a test but when you wash it frays to much. I am trying it on broadcloth.

This fabric might work well with crayons....JoAnn's Legacy Studio muslin. I use it for coloring with Derwent Inktense pencils. It's a high thread-count bleached muslin. I stretch the fabric taut on a hard surface with masking/blue painter's tape to make it easier to color. The 108" wide Legacy Studio muslin is more economical than the 44".

I did a quick read-through on this post....One of my sisters is a third-grade teacher and does small quilts with her students using this method...I've helped her put some of them together and they are priceless!
