Kentucckiana quilt shops, bad news, good news.

Quilters in the Louisville metro area will be sad to learn that Happy Heart Quilt Shop will be closing soon. The owner has several health issues in her family and has decided to close her shop. She has been in business for many years and we will miss her.
The good news for quilters is that a new shop has opened on Shelbyville Road. It is called Cozy Quilts and as I understand it, some of their inventory has come from another shop, Forget Me Knot, that closed recently. I don't have an exact address but will be trying to locate them this weekend.
Happy quilting,Kathy

Thanks for the news. I found its website and it's already open! I haven't been there yet, but it looks nice and they have a busy calendar. Check it out here........http://www.thecozyquilter.com/index.html

I am unaware of any health problems with the owner. I was just there yesterday and she told me she just wanted to retire and do things like travel and be with her grandchildren as she had been in the business for a very long time. A definite closing date has not been set and the owner will look at offers as well.

Thank you. GiGi

I was in the Cozy Quilter recently I love it they are very nice and seen to didn't mind my two young children as they tried to be good and sit in the little area up front I believe it was called the gentlemams lounge with a TV she even put on some cartoons for them. I was excited to be able to pick out free fabric due to the amount of money I spent. It is a 30 min. drive but if you tired of Hobby Lobby and Walk Mart you gotta do what ya gotta do.

That really breaks my heart. I love to shop there. It was crowded with fabric, I don't I ever went there looking for something that I did not find and usually more. Enjoy your retirement

The Cozy Quilter, did not have a lot of notions and supplies when they first opened. The had a fairly good selection of fabric. Due to health, I have not been back for several months. I am sure they have improved by now. The people were very friendly and helpful. They offered to order anything I needed that they did not have in stock.

The Cozy Quilter opened in October 2012 with all new fabric! We did not purchase inventory from another store, though we did purchase some of their displays. We have close to 2000 bolts of fabric and have also added a lot of books/patterns and notions since we opened. Stop in and check us out.
