Hello,
I have seen so many wonderful tutorials in this forum and I have learned to many great things thanks to the member's generosity that I wanted to give something back. I'm new to quilting, but I work as graphic designer making mostly covers for books. So I use a website to create a palette of colors for a cover. The same method can be applied to combining colors for fabrics. Here is how I do it. First I scan, take a photo or download a picture of the manufacturer's website of the fabric I want to work with. In this case, let's use this photo. Then, go to this website http://www.cssdrive.com/imagepalette/ Upload your picture and the website takes the colors of the picture and gives you back a palette with 3 options, light, medium and dark combinations, plus a complete color palette of your picture. This way you can find solids or prints that combine with your fabric. Thanks for reading. |
WOW Thanks so much for sharing that - it looks totally awesome. I actually tried one and was surprised with all of the choices. Saved to my Favorites and will definitely pass this on.

Very interesting~not one orange in either of the three palettes and I would have included orange if I were looking for a combination to go with the fabric. hmmmm.
