Bonbonary 04-19-2011 05:29 AM

That's great. I love that the seams are all enclosed.

Janet Espeleta 04-19-2011 05:56 AM

I have made lots & lots of pillowcases this way. It works easier if you have a wide space so you can lay everything flat before pinning. I made my mom a set of pillowcases for Mother's Day a few yrs ago. Instead of adding the flange (she called it piping), substitute lace instead. I have also machine embroidered motifs in the cuff before sewing the pillowcase together. Just make sure that you fold the cuff in half lengthwise to find your center. Then you fold it in half again as you want to center your motif on only half of the strip so your motif doesn't end up on the side. (Ask me how I know this! LOL)

I have made several cases with this tute. I go back to it all the time because I can't remember the order of fabric lay out. I found a youtube to do a french seam for the inside. I love youtube.

Shankquilt 04-19-2011 09:17 AM

Thanks for sharing this. I was wanting to make one and knew I would be able to find a tute somewhere but now I didn't even have to look. I want to make a smaller one for a child's pillow--is there a simple way to size this down to fit other size pillows?

Jammin' Jane 04-19-2011 12:41 PM

These make such fun gifts!
Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the link. I always wondered how they made those without all the seams showing. I'll have to try it.

Yep, love this tutorial from MSQC. I even did a speech and demo a couple of weeks ago for speech class on this method. Sew easy this way. Wish I had a serger to finish the seams the way I want, tho.
