I was emailed by one of the LQS about an online 7 month quilting class for the Batik Judy Neimyer Glacier quilt star quilt pattern. The cost is $300 for 7 months and they end the kits each month with an online video of the class. I have never taken a class becaus of back issues I would not be able to stay what is your opinion of this option and is it too much? They have the option to pay $44 per month which makes it easier for me to pay. The quilt is beautiful!

just in case here is the link it is

Sounds expensive to me. $300 for a single quilt? I've never seen a kit for more than maybe $150 or so and the rest is too much for a video class IMO. Seems like part of the benefit you pay for is to get personalized help and instruction and fellowship. So video classes should be less.

how big is the quilt? I didn't see that info on the website.

Can you watch these classes more than once? Or pause them to take a break? If not, would it be any different than actually sitting through a class? How long is each class?

I would check out the sample video and see if you can see what is being taught/shown clearly enough. If you can't once the class is actually being taught, will they let you stop on the payment plan?

I think that is way too much money!

That is kinda what I thought was more interested in the kit and the videos I cannot sit through a class. Will keep looking! Thank you for your input!!

Does it also include all the foundation papers for her patterns? I know the classes aren't cheap but the end results are fabulous.

I saw something like this and I thought it was too much. But if you do it and it works let me know!!

I've wanted to do a Judy Niemeyer quilt too, but I thought the kit and pattern were too expensive at over $300.

one of our local quilt shops is also doing this class one Sat. a month starting in Jan. I to felt it was to expensive at 38.00 dollars a month and to my understanding that did not include all of the fabric after looking at it I decided if I was going to finish it in 8 months I would be working on it constantly and decided I did not need another UFO especially such an expensive one good luck with whatever you decide it is a beautiful quilt
