A recent Copyright Issue
This is most interesting reading. It is a statement from the fabric designer involved recently with the quilt designer/ book/tote bag situation. It certainly sheds light on several aspects of the case and a welcome statement from the fabric designer.

Thanks for sharing. Very informative.

Much has been said about this in other posts. About a month ago, Leah Day wrote an article, "Copyright Terrorism", about this very situation. I think that Leah covers it quite well:

A very interesting read. There is always two sides to every story and a fine hair in between, most usually.

Kate Spain makes it sound like they used kid gloves. Her lawyers were more like hungry tigers ready to destroy anything in their path. Yes, there are two sides to any story, and Kate Spain makes herself look like she's an innocent dove. I won't be buying any of her fabrics because I think they were too aggressive and sought to be overly damaging to the company and to the author of the book in question.

Very interesting information. The link to Leah Day took me to a very interesting TED talk about copyright.
Thank you for posting. |
I am not creative. Without creative people who sell their designs for others to use, I would not be quilting. Thanks, Holice for this addition to our understanding.

I think everyone wants to make money however they can. Beats the heck out of making it honestly, bullies are everywhere. I only give my quilts away. If they don't like it let them come and get me.
