Well, she has done a tutorial on how to make it. It's called Periwinkle.

I watched that demo this morning. One question, when she showed her completed block there was no way you could sew those blocks together without cutting off the points of the periwinkle. Did I miss something?

Good question. Hopefully someone will be able to answer that. I was hoping it would not be paper pieced, but it is.

I wonder if you can do the same block using a triangle template with a quarter square triangle block in the center?

I am working on something similar, it is one of those quilts that you work on and work on, get tired of it. Have not done anything since last fall, it was a way to use up my scraps, with white and peach centres. I am going to find the directions, it is done the same, with the template in the centre (white) and then strips were added on either side. Found it, check out quiltville....spiderweb. The picture of the spiderweb quilt has red where I have white. I did use up a lot of strips of fabric, when I found I was using too much light or dark, I cut strips to add some more color contrast. She gives directions to make your own template, so no buying new templates, which I like. I sewed it on thin computer paper. If I get it done and get around to it will post. It is a great way to use up fabric!

Eleanor Burns has a similar pattern in her Egg Money Quilts pattern book. If you look at this page, scroll down near the bottom, you will see the block I'm talking about. It uses a quarter square triangle in the center.

It's not paper piecing, it's foundation piecing which is much easier, no backward sewing. I bought the template and papers when it was a daily deal. The paper is very nice and pulls out of the seam in one piece. I would recommend buying the template and papers. The quilt she made all the points are fine. I'll make four blocks today and see what happens. That's why most of these are string quilts, so much yardage for the solid background many people won't buy that much at one time plus more for the backing.

Wow - just looked - you are right! Just reverse the background and it's the same block.
