This listing expires in 4 hours, looks like a nice clean machine

Probably a good price. It didn't state if it is in working order or not? Also the instructions were in spanish? Might not work with American plugs. Some of the out of country machines have different voltage systems in their motors. It does have the scroll face on it which is the more collectible one of the FW's.

It's a 1950 machine.

np3 04-20-2011 03:32 PM

It specifically says it will not work in the US. That was under the review section. You need a converter.

hobbykat1955 04-20-2011 03:49 PM

Yup that's why no ones bidding or that baby would have been well o/200 by now. Needs converter for US usage

greenini 04-20-2011 03:52 PM

Ah, just saw price, didn't read it all, but it still might be worth it to someone.

Absolutely! This is an International Board!

sueisallaboutquilts 04-20-2011 06:41 PM

The reviews weren't about that particular machine. They were about FW's people are reviewing.

It was made in Canada. Does it need a converter?

I don't see anywhere that it says it was made in Canada.
I think you're reading reviews.

The seller says very little about it, just that it's a FW 221 and the manual is in spanish.
This is the seller's description:

Singer Featherweight 221 Sewing Machine
Case
Spanish Instruction Manuel

I do see anywhere that it says it was made in Canada.

There are about 12 pictures under the big one. When you enlarge the pictures, you can see all the labels for the machine being sold. At least you could before it ended.

sueisallaboutquilts 04-20-2011 07:11 PM

Ah! Nancy! I didn't look at the bigger pics!!!
For the life of me I couldn't figure out where you were finding all that info! lol
Is it my bedtime??? I think so :D
But first I gotta go look !!

sueisallaboutquilts 04-20-2011 07:15 PM

I wonder if they will re-list it. Lots of times they do. If anyone sees it again you could email the seller to see if it works in the US.

np3 04-20-2011 07:19 PM

I was going to do that, but it was down to 4 minutes.....

ladyshuffler 04-20-2011 11:16 PM

She has re listed it for $99.00-----

No one bid on it. I didn't look to see if it was in working order. I have a FW already plus two other vintage machines (WHITE and a 1914 Singe Red Eye). Don't need another.

Quilt Fan 04-21-2011 06:33 AM

It says on the machine that it was made in Canada. I sent an email inquiry about the electrical question. If an answer comes back will let you know.

Chabad is not a she, it'a a charitable organization, just so you know.

Becky Mc 04-21-2011 11:36 AM

I did see some where yesterday searching for FW's one that was made in Canada, not sure if it was E-bay or not.

Received a message from Ebay Member Bailg. The machine has a U.S. Electrical plug.

hobbykat1955 04-21-2011 01:55 PM

And there's got to be something there that no one bid on a Featherweight...that alone makes me suspect something is not right

Mommomjoann 04-21-2011 03:20 PM

Be careful, my friend bought one on eBay..it was from great Britian and had to be all re-wired and a new motor , cost..over 180.00 extra and a lot of worry!

I just checked and the price right now is $112!

ardnas 04-22-2011 04:40 AM

looks pretty beat-up to me. Not returnable/refund--I'd be very leary. price is right, but parts are expensive.
