Taking the stress out of Longarm tension

This was posted on one of my yahoo frame quilting groups. They have since put the link in their files.

That's the best I've ever seen for how to do your tensions. Thanks!!

I checked the tension on my Bailey bobbin. OMG! It's a wonder I could quilt anything. I ended up loosening it almost a half a turn.

Thanks, I learned a bit about the bobbin thread just slightly showing in the top. I did not know that!!!

Update:
I lowered the tension on my Bailey to what he suggested. Then I spent the next several hours balancing tension. I can't get mine as low as what he wants. Mine is at the lift, slight bounce stage, where before it didn't move. Tension then was at 7 (had shredding issues-imagine that). Now it's at just a tick above 2. Can just barely see the bobbin thread on top. I will be quilting 2 strata stars (table topper and tree skirt) on one long piece of backing. Good thing there's lots of room around the star points for practicing.
