Sounds good to me, especially if I ever try one of her gorgeous Log Cabin quilts.

Hum ! time to re think me thinks

This couldn't have come at a better time. I'm getting ready to do a Strip-Smart Quilt from the book by Kathy Brown. It's a surprise wedding gift for my daughter for Christmas. They gave me a 6 day notice about the wedding so I didn't have time to come up with anything. But I think I've got it now. I was worried about the strips being straight and this method may just work! Thanks Craftybear!

That was a good site to explore
Thanks, craftybear. I have used this theory but only on borders. So, why not on short strips too. Makes sense.
She makes a very, very good case for cutting lengthwise.
Great information. Thank you!
That makes perfect sense to me. Thanks, Karen.
thank you crafty for the info
I mainly do log cabin variations and I always cut my strips on the lengthwise grain. It makes for much more stable blocks when it comes to joining and layering. I think perhaps it's a hang-over from my dressmaking days, but it works!
Thank you for the site and the tips.
Thanks for the link.

Thanks,

I always cut strips lengthwise, especially when sewing them together. Strips cut on lengthwise grain are unfriendly, they won't wave at me when sewn. LOL
Interesting.

Thank you
