I have never seen this method of adding a hanging sleeve to a quilt and I want to share it with you. Scroll past the binding info.

Thank you :D:D:D

I have seen this method before, but never used it. I was afraid it'd "stretch" the corners, but those triangles are much bigger than the ones I've seen in the past, so that might just work. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the link. I am going to use this method on some wall quilts I have in the works now. So much easier that what I have been doing.

interesting.....Thanks for sharing.

I started this a few months ago. The trick is to go a little farther than 1/3 the width of the top. They hold up great and never fall off anymore.
|
This is new to me. Looks like a great idea and something I need to try.
|
Thanks for the idea!

Thanks for sharing. Interesting site.

I subscribe to this site and just read about this method yesterday....as a newbie to quilting, but, a sewer since childhood, I find this very dooable. I will try it the next time I make a wall hanging.

thanks for sharing!!

I could not access the information about the quilt sleeve, was I doing something wrong all that came up was the quilt binding. Maybe someone can help me find the right info, thanks a bunch.
|
I just tested the link and it works for me. I am not sure why it won't work for you. Can you copy and paste it into Google and see what happens?
|
Thanks will try again.

Wow! I'm gonna try those corner triangles on my next one. I really dislike making sleeves and they really don't always hang that well. Thanks for the tip. Made my day.
|
The technique is below the binding info.

The binding lessons look interesting but very expensive.
I learned to do perfect mitered bindings by machine by binding old potholders I bought at yard sales to practice on. |
I love your Avatar.

Remember to scrool down on that first page. Use to get her site, but she is too eager to sell her stuff and we waste time trying to find what we are looking for.
|
Thanks for the site. I'm going to try this out.
|
Thank you and God bless.

I used the triangles in the corners on some wall quilts last week. It works really well. My quilts were about 11x14 both horizontal and vertical. I used a 4" square and folded on the diagonal. spray starched it before pressing the crease in it. The starch controlled the movement between the layers when pinning then onto the corners.
For these hangings I use the 1/4" dowel. Then I made some strips from the binding fabric, folded them like I would if I was going to use them for buttonholes. I turned up the bottom about 3/4" and stitched to make a space to thread the dowel through. I then put the dowel in the corners and they were ready to hang by the buttonhole hanger. |
