Used dryer sheets make great stabilizers for machine applique. Here are four good reasons to put them to work in your projects:

They are non-woven, just like stabilizer you buy

You've already paid for them!

You've got a steady supply of them

It's a great way to recycle something you'd otherwise throw away

Just wash that used dryer sheet and give it a quick press with a medium iron and it's all ready for its second career.

Thanks Sondray, I'm going to be using some dryer sheets on a project coming up real soon. Applique!!! I cut out my pattern piece tonight. :D

I sew the dryer sheet on to my applique on the top then cut an area on the sheet in the middle of the sheet, flip it to the back, iron, and all my eges are in back of the applique. No raw edges. I even do this when I do fusible applique. Much neater looking and definitly will not fray when the raw edges are enclosed. Just a tip I thought I would share.

I forgot, you can then cut away the sheet from the back if you want to. :D

I don't always use dryer sheet.......what I do use for applique is coffee filters.....try it :D new ones cheap
