Default The Easiets Mariners Compass No Triangles

Okay, you may have seen this, but it was new to me and for those that missed it I felt this was fantastic. I have wanted to make a Mariner's Compass but honestly, all those triangles scared me out of making it. So when I saw a way to make one without cutting triangles, I was there.

I hope you enjoy watching this tutorial as much as I did.

You will find the pattern link just under the video, but if anyone just want the pattern here is the link:

Good luck and happy sewing. Please post any photos on the QB so you can be an inspiration to others! Let us all share our successes and knowledge!

I like this! much like paper piecing, BUT no paper to peel off and larger! (BTW, I couldn't get the pattern link to work)

I too had trouble with the link however on the video you can click on the pattern link, and it works from there, even though they are the same address. I too like the ease of the pattern

Yes, I did this - I was commissioned by a friend to make a marineers compass - I told him yes (I have never paper pieced and have only been quilting for about 2 1/2 yrs) - I was scared to death but I found this and it worked - I was surprised how easy it was - I did screw up one of the points - but figured out what went wrong and success for the rest - I will see if I can post a pic here of the one I did - I completely recommend this quiltsmart fusible technique - it worked for me and I had no idea what I was doing. Well, can't post the pic right now - but I will try later.

That looks like such an easy way to make the mariner's compass. But I have a question and since I'm a newbie, it's a newbie question. I watched the youtube video and wondered where they got the pattern. The link to the pattern didn't work. Did they trace it onto paper? Enlarge it? Thanks so much for posting the youtube.
