I have never seen the ends joined like that before. It certainly looks easy that way. I may give that a try.

Looks good. Something I will try. I was interested at the end where she leaves some extra batting and backing to fold over and make a fuller binding. I've never seen that before. Thanks for posting.

It is your "ruler" to find out where to cut off the tail at the end. I leave about six inches of binding loose at the beginning, and when I come to the end I stop sewing about 12 inches from where I started. Pin down the binding where you want it to be and cut off the last end at the base of that triangle. It will be the right length. Now remove the pins, fold the quilt so that the base of both ends are together, and sew those two ends together the same way you sewed all your other binding seams: right sides together at a right angle and sew on the diagonal.
You will not be able to tell where the last seam is after it is finished.

Happy binding!

As far as MSQ tutorial showing the binding tool....for me, I could not, can not 'get it'. Apparently many other's find it confusing too as MSQ has updated video's because of the confusion...I'm sure that it is just a mental block for me. I have that useless "to me' binding tool hanging on the wall.

I find Heirloom Creations monthly featured tools and their YouTube tutorials most beneficial. I'm not affiliated I seem to always benefit from the concise video demonstrations that they feature.

The tuck method isn't the best, it creates a definite bump in the binding that will show. A better way is to sew the ends together just like the other seams in the binding. There is a method to do this that is easy.

I think the one craftnut is talking about is McCalls by Sherri Bain Driver there are 4 parts.I think this is the best. I`ve always cut mine 2 1/4 but still had difficult getting a full binding.A friend told me to put the binding on before trimiming the back and bat as in this video! Light bulb moment for me!!!!!
