    Shaped tape for quilting

Just found this shaped painters tape. Comes in chevron, scallop and wave. I though it could be cool to follow along for a quilting pattern. Expensive though. http://www.amazon.com/FrogTape-28254.../dp/B00EUTMDQ6
I promise not to buy any more fabric until I see something I really like. Or it's on sale. Or I think it might match something.

It is expensive! I wonder if it is reusable or if it will stretch too much when you take it off. Hmmm.....

Wow, expensive is right...I use adding machine tape and fold it for scallops. It can be folded and cut and shaped for many uses and it's CHEAP!

I use painters tape for straight line quilting. I reuse the piece several times before it loses its sticky. It doesn't stretch. Maybe the cost will come down.

I used the wave for a tablerunner. I followed the tape easy and precisely with my walking foot. No measuring or marking is worth the few dollars for the tape. It wasn't that expensive at Walmart anyway.

I use rolls of fax paper. I have a 6 ft table I roll out and tape it to the ends and start tracing. Depending on the design I can get any where's from 2 to 6 across and now with the spray adhesives it makes it easier to place on the quilt. I find these rolls just about every time I go to the 2nd hand stores. I can get a lot of rolls of paper for the price of 1 roll of frog tape.

A friend had me use a roll of paper to mark my quilt top. After securing the paper enough so it doesn't move, tracing, wrestling the paper on the quilt top and then removing the paper is not something I would ever do again. I found the Frog tape, straight or shaped, simply easy with no hassles.

I have used the straight Frog Tape and it is reusable like the blue painter's tape, so I would think so would these. The only limiting factor might be having to be more careful with it.

For those that haven't used the shape tape, it has release paper split down the middle. I use one side until it loses it's staying power then will use the other side. Using on side stayed on a baby quilt while I quilted. I still have one side of sticky not used.
    I love my life!
