I love to sit in the window and watch the Goldfinch's take mouthfuls of polyester batting out to build their nests. When we clean our the nest boxes each year they have weaved the cloth, batting and strings cut short into warm and cozy nests.

It's tough to find good information on the net about what to offer birds for nesting. Here is some information I found on the Cornell website:
http://www.allaboutbirds.org/NetComm...ingbirds-other

and here is what they say about dryer lint:
Some laundry detergents and fabric softeners may leave harmful residues. We don’t recommend offering dryer lint.

Love this!! We feed and water our birds and I keep a wild area (unmowed part of the yard) for the ground birds (quilt, pheasant and grouse). This is just one more way to treat my birdies!
