I have seen this done with larger yarns/fibers as well. It does NOT give you a clean finished edge, so if raw edges bother you , this is not the finish you want!

I agree Jacquie, this would only be for very small items that will receive no stress and never be washed. I don't mind binding at all, but I thought that this was a new way of looking at something -- it sort of stimulates the imagination.
