How do you make the cm conversion to keep quilt similar in size?

I do an Internet search to convert centimeters to inches. You get some weird sizes due to the conversion. I round up the converted size to the next closest size and then plan to add about an inch to in order to make the blocks work in the quilt. For example the finished block size with seam allowance for BOM 1 is 21.5 x 59.5 centimeters. So I plan for the block to equal 8.5 x 24 inches. Adding the extra inch will allow for adjustments.
