Thumbs up For those that are near Springfield MO

There was a fabric store off Sunshine just north of the hospital that moved recently---it was F & M or something like that. Anyway, I was wondering where exactly did they moved and how is the new store different. Thanks alot!

They built a new building on south Fremont in behind battlefield mall. I have been out of the loop for about 2 mos though, so wasn't aware the new bldg was opened yet. I'll check it out Tuesday and if I can remember I'll post about it, or better yet- pm me to remind me. :-) I'm really looking forward to seeing it open. Even as junked up as the old store was I LOVED that store!

I am 50 miles from Springfield and have been going to FM Stores for about 35 years! They used to have 3 or 4 stores in Springfield and they dealt mostly in damaged material. My sister-in-law and I would paw through bins and bins of damaged knit/double knit fabrics and find enough fabric to make us some tops and pants. The only store now is on the corner of Sunshine and Fremont. The last time I was in there was in August and they said that they were moving to a new store down Fremont right behind Battlefield Mall and hoped to be in the new store by the end of the month. Their "old" store was so dark and crowded that it was really hard to see the true colors, etc. They were having 20% off moving sale when I was there last.

I'm less than 50 miles from Sprgfld and no one in my family will run up there with me--I won't go alone. I'm directionally impaired and get lost way to easy.Theres a Hancocks and JoAnns up there. I'm needing batting for 6 twin quilts and all we have here is a WallyWorld -to expensive. Maybe DIL will go up there for Christmas shopping and we can detour to a couple fabric stores. So I'll have to add F&M to the map.

I was at Branson in March for a Quilting Retreat and I went to the FMV store in Springfield. It was like a toy store for quilters. I hadn't planned on buying much fabric, but for the price and quality I loaded up like there was no tomorrow. That store was worth the entire trip from Texas. I came home loaded like a homeless person. I bought everything. Fabric, Batting, metal zippers (for dog beds (not yet started)), I was lucky there was room in my truck for me to drive home. All in all, I spent less that $125.00 and I bought enought fabric for about 15 quilts including batting. I understand when they get the new store open they are going to have a website and handle mail orders. I don't know if my budget will stand it......

We drove by the new, unfinished store last time I was in Spgfld visiting family. It was on the street that crosses Sunshine where the old store was located. Can't wait to see their new place!

This makes me want to take a trip to MO. We lived in Monett for a time and our big shopping venture was to Springfield. I don't remember the store however. Can you tell me why their prices are so good?
