for those of you that use Aurifil thread

I got an email from fatquartershop.com today and their Notion of the Month is called the Piecing Box. it has 12 colors of threads in it that can be used for piecing. It is normally 109.99 (which is still cheaper than buying the spools separately) but now it is $87.99! That comes out to about $7.33 per spool (a great price!). Shipping is only 4.95 for orders over $60. I just wanted to pass this along. I am not associated with this website at all and I have never even ordered from them, but I don't think I can pass this up!

Interesting. I only use taupe, or rarely, white to piece. Do most folks match their thread more closely when piecing?

It does sound good, but I'm like PaperPrincess. I tend to use taupe, white, or silver grey to piece.

I love the FQ Shop, but if you are looking for neutral Aurifil thread, that is not the best deal currently being offered. MassDrop has two of the neutral thread boxes for $79.99 each plus free shipping. Only one day left. It brings it down to $6.66/spool. There are a lot of the same colors in the piecing box and the two different ones being offered on MassDrop. Here is what it is currently being offered:

Pat Sloan’s Perfect Box of Neutrals
    • Cinnamon Toast (2390)
    • Black (2692)
    • Ermine (2312)
    • Cafe Au Lait (2340)
    • Sandstone (2370)
    • Dark Antique Gold (2372)
    • Chocolate (2360)
    • Dove (2600)
    • Light Grey (5021)
    • Rope Beige (5011)
    • Light Blue Grey (2610)
    • Medium Grey (1158)

    Mark Lipinksi Basics
    • Light Sand (2000)
    • Natural White (2021)
    • White (2024)
    • Light Beige (2310)
    • Beige (2314)
    • Linen (2325)
    • Sand (2326)
    • Sandstone (2370)
    • Dove (2600)
    • Grey (2605)
    • Light Blue Grey (2610)
    • Black (2692)

I bolded all of the colors that are in the Piecing Box so you can compare. The only difference between the Mark Lipinski box and the Piecing Box is that the Piecing box has Navy instead of Beige.

I don't work for MassDrop nor am I affiliated with them. I am just someone that loves to shop the deals.

I use red Aurifil thread to piece everything but white to white fabric. I love it. I buy 12 spools of 50wt 1300m for $24.

I use neutral colored threads mostly. I have been trying to use up all of the spools of colored thread I have so if one of them matches the current project I try to use them. I figured I should use it up before it gets too old.
