    Three Links for Ideas

Lazy Girl Ring Quilt Tutorial; interesting but not sure I would do, though. http://www.paisleyandlace.com/2011/11/292/

Such a Pretty Flannel Rag quilt but cannot find pattern. Searched the Freespirit site to no avail. Do you think the circle is sewn atop? http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/73...cd6ca2b4a5.jpg

Quickie strip double hourglass tutorial. So many possibilities with this, especially with scrap stash. http://www.littlebluebell.com/2012/0...ass-block.html

Thanks for the links (and the pattern auntpiggylpn). Some more for the to do list, though I think they will be at the top of my list as they are all going to be heroes in my attempts to stash-bust. I have lots of flannels at the moment.

I do think that all the figures are an applique type of application. Should be EZ to make quilt blocks and use your imagination to rough edge applique the appliques.
