If you are looking at an Ultimate II on eBay with a starting price of $1,500...it is a scam, so don't bite!!! They posted in a yahoo quilting group I am on and the list owner did some checking and found that it was a scam. Don't want anyone here to get taken like that!

    I found the posting.
The seller has just four points on his reputation, but all transactions are $20 or less.
He started as a seller in 2008 though.

The good thing is that if you buy something in ebay through paypal, you are protected.

One question: if you guys found out this is a scam, can you report it to ebay?

I saw his post on another quilting forum that kicked him off and his user name is very similar to the one from this board that had a machine and was so upset that he couldn't list it here. He did say APQS allowed him to list it and someone before they knew what he was suggested he try House of Hanson. I hope they have checked on this.

I didn't report it...I'll suggest the list owner do that. Even if you are protected by PayPal, it's a hassle! Quilters have to protect each other!!!

What steps did you go thru to find out that it is a scam?

It wasn't me that did the research, but Janet-Lee, the list owner. However, someone else on that group says it is legit - sent me an email this morning. I am clueless, did go look at the listing on eBay though. May be a good deal, but it is just the machine, no table/frame. Sorry for the confusion...I did ask Admin to remove this from the board since it's a "she says/she says" thing.

I don't understand this. What he did is a crime so couldn't you contact the police? I'm sure you did all you could but my heart breaks for you over this. That is such a ton of money. I'll never understand how people can get away with these things.

Ann, that is just awful! When significant sums of money are involved, I think dealing in person is a safer way to go, but not always. I am so sorry this happened.
