Default Unique qult display, now and forever????

ok, I've read the rules, and reread, and hope my thinking is correct, that THIS is the place for this:

http://main.aol.com/2013/07/10/woman...ncid=webmail29

It's a story about a woman who displays her quilts uniquely

Here goes....pushing submit button....

Well that certainly is original. I am not sure I would want a daily reminder myself. I do know quilters that have designated a quilt to go on their coffin for the funeral.

I think this is fabulous. This woman knows how to live. She has no fear and can enjoy every minute of the life she has now.

Personally, I want to be a medical cadaver and be of some use after I quilt no more!
peace

Red face

A friend in Nebraska died last year at the age of 95.
She had had her handmade coffin stored in her basement for about 15 years.
It was beautiful wood, rope handles, and lined with plain white muslin.
I was sick at the time and was not able to attend her service.

It pays to be prepared, so that you can have it your way.

What a marvelous idea! Useful rather than wasteful. Cheaper rather than expensive. Ecological rather than affecting the earth forever. The body certainly won't care! So many people aren't aware that expensive funeral home caskets are often not required by law.

To me this isn't a "constant reminder" of impending death (hopefully many years out!) any more than my leather wingback recliner is a constant (negative connotation) reminder that I will be having shoulder replacement surgery soon and have to sleep in it for a while. Or that the ice scraper I have to keep moving in my car's console is a reminder that winter is coming sooner than I want it to.

Then again, I'm one who firmly believes that only I am responsible for the things I "think on"; that my brain doesn't just take over and worry about things like a dog with a new bone when I "remind" myself that only God is in control of my life.
